Priorities

Our HD 85: Schools That Prepare. Wages That Sustain. Lives That Thrive

1

Education & Workforce Development: From Classrooms to Careers

The Problem:

Right now, our kids are being set up to leave. At John Marshall High and PC North, teachers are buying school supplies out of their own paychecks while graduates leave without the skills to land jobs at Paycom, Tinker, or OU Health. We are failing the next generation and, honestly, holding back our own economy.

The Solution:

  • Fix our schools: Pay teachers what they deserve, upgrade every school with things like working HVAC systems, and invest in equipping STEM labs in every high school.

  • Train for real careers: Partner with trade schools like Francis Tuttle Tech and local unions to bring back welding, nursing, and IT certification programs as options for our students.

  • Connect talent to opportunity: Guarantee internships with OKC employers who need employees to run and grow their business, but more importantly, so students can build strong careers right here at home.

If we want our kids to stay, we have to give them a reason to build their future here.

2

Affordability & Transit: Keeping Families in Their Homes

The Problem:

Seniors in The Village are choosing between prescriptions and property taxes. Renters near Capitol Hill face eviction over $100+ rent hikes, while potholes on Western Ave damage cars. And with buses that stop running too early and limited coverage, late-shift workers at hospitals, warehouses, and other critical jobs struggle to get home safely.

The Solution:

  • Tax relief now: Cap property taxes for seniors and freeze assessments for working families to protect them from being priced out of their homes.

  • Housing people can afford: Incentivize the construction of starter homes, expand affordable housing programs, and hold slumlords accountable with stronger enforcement.

  • Transit that works: Expand and extend bus service hours while improving coverage so every neighborhood in our district has reliable, affordable public transportation to ensure workers can get home safely no matter when or where they work.

Because at the end of the day, everyone deserves a safe place to live, a way to get to work, and the security of knowing they can afford to stay in the community they love.

3

Healthcare & Economic Dignity: Your Health Shouldn’t Bankrupt You

The Problem:

A job at the Stockyards shouldn’t mean choosing between insulin and rent. Veterans wait months for VA care, small businesses can’t afford employee insurance, and ER bills are pushing families into debt. Healthy communities need paychecks that cover the basics and healthcare you can actually use.

The Solution:

  • Jobs that sustain: Support a living wage and create tax incentives for businesses that provide healthcare benefits to their employees.

  • Healthcare within reach: Protect Medicaid, expand mobile clinics, and work to lower prescription costs, including capping the price of insulin.

  • Mental health crisis care: Partner with local providers to open a 24/7 mental health crisis center so people can get help before it’s too late.

Everyone deserves the peace of mind that comes from knowing your paycheck covers the bills, your doctor is just a call away, and help is there when life feels overwhelming.

Hi, I’m Joshua Harris-Till.

I’ve dedicated my life to making Oklahoma a place where regular people are seen, heard, and valued because I’ve lived what so many are still fighting through. My work has never been about politics for its own sake. It’s about people. It’s about neighbors who feel forgotten, classrooms still waiting on promises, and families like mine who have had to grieve in public and still find a way to serve.

I’ve been at the State Capitol. I’ve walked neighborhoods block by block. I’ve stood with teachers demanding dignity and fought for safer communities after losing my sister to gun violence. Every step I’ve taken has been about lifting up voices that too often get left behind.

I’m not running to build a platform. I’m running to build trust, build power, and build something better with you. If you’re ready for leadership that listens, stands with you, and fights for results, I’m ready to get to work.

Hi, I’m Joshua Harris-Till – a proud Oklahoman, community advocate, and political organizer. I’ve been active in Oklahoma politics since 2012, working from the grassroots up to the national stage. Over the years I’ve worn many hats – from campaign volunteer to state party leader – but every role has been about making a difference for my home state. I’ve helped elect local leaders, fought for safer neighborhoods, and even had the honor of leading the Young Democrats at both the state and national levels.

Oklahoma isn’t just where I live; it’s at the heart of everything I do. Whether I’m mentoring young organizers or working on policy, I truly believe that when Oklahomans work together, there’s no challenge we can’t overcome.
